Estamos buscando candidatos para hacer una tesis doctoral en análisis de los modos futuros de movilidad y sus consecuencias energético-ambientales. Copio a continuación la convocatoria, agradeceré que lo difundáis en vuestras redes.

PhD Scholarship on Modeling Future Mobility Trends

The BP Chair on Energy and Sustainability within the Institute for Technology Research (IIT) at Comillas University in Madrid, Spain, offers a PhD scholarship to carry out research on the Modeling of Future Mobility Trends, to start in September 2020. IIT is a leading institution in the analysis of energy systems, and the BP Chair on Energy and Sustainability has been conducting advanced, high-quality research in sustainable energy models for more than 15 years.

The objective of this research project is to model the penetration and adoption of new modes of transport (in particular car sharing and autonomous vehicles), and their economic, environmental, and energy consequences. This will require searching and analyzing relevant data, as well as building new or improving existing models. The results of the research shall be used to provide policy recommendations, and will therefore need to be communicated to and discussed effectively with the relevant stakeholders. In order to achieve the PhD degree, they must also be published in relevant academic journals. Finally, the PhD candidate must help in administrative tasks within the Chair (organizing workshops and contributing to our regular publications). Research will be directed by Prof. Pedro Linares.

We look for highly motivated candidates, with an excellent background in Engineering, Physics, or Economics (with a Master degree or equivalent), with an outstanding academic record, capable of working autonomously and as part of a team. Research will be carried out in English, so a very good knowledge of it is required. In addition, knowledge of Spanish is strongly recommended, given that it is the working language of the Institute and the way to communicate results to the Spanish audience. We will also consider knowledge of economic analysis, optimization, and energy systems, as well as data analysis, computer programming, and communication skills.

The term of appointment is four years, subject to an annual evaluation. We offer a competitive, full-time contract, including health insurance, partial tuition waiver, and other benefits. Researchers will work in an international, fun, and stimulating environment. They will also benefit from opportunities to attend international academic conferences, to enjoy research stays at prestigious international centers, and from access to an extensive international research network, industry connections, and policy audience.

Application materials must be sent to pedro.linares@comillas.edu, and must include: a cover letter, CV, complete academic transcripts for undergraduate and graduate studies, language proficiency certificates, and three letters of reference from professors of graduate courses or supervisors of research. Review of applications will begin immediately, and will continue until the position is awarded.
