Un experimento con ChatGPT

En vacaciones se me ocurrió hacer un experimento con ChatGPT, para ver si era cierto lo de sus mentirijillas y falta de precisión. Y se me ocurrió utilizarme de conejillo de indias. Así que le pregunté por mí (Who is Professor Pedro Linares?), y esto es lo que me dijo:

He marcado en negrita lo falso, que como puede verse es mucho (especialmente divertido lo del Payne Institute, tendré que buscar una visita, en vista de que ChatGPT considera que debería ser fellow allí...). Más gracioso aún: cuando le pregunto si está seguro de que soy fellow del Payne, me dice lo siguiente:

Menuda jeta!! La verdad es que ChatGPT es un buen vendemotos...excusa estupenda, aunque falsa también.

En el fondo, este texto revela lo que es ChatGPT: un algoritmo que crea texto en base a la probabilidad de ocurrencia (junto con unas respuestas muy elegantes que sólo dan buenas excusas). El texto que ha creado en mi caso es un conjunto muy probable para un profesor universitario estándar, incluso aunque se confunda metiendo comas entre "energy, economics and policy"...pero falso. Poca inteligencia por aquí, me temo.

ADD: Después de escribir esto, me alegra ver que Cal Newport confirma estas ideas (también confirmadas en un libro muy interesante que me estoy leyendo de Judea Pearl, y que espero reseñar aquí pronto). Vale la pena leer el artículo original de Newport.
